nearing the finish line...

this is so exciting to say: i am ALMOST DONE recording. i did my last studio session yesterday. i was very at ease and was able to do the main vocal tracks for the last 4 songs. i guess i shouldn't be surprised that it got easier as the process unwound itself. i just have 3 more songs to lay down background vocals for and then we can mix everything.

i am making notes and notes and notes of what i want each song to "sound" like in the mix. what sort of spaces i'll be creating. i have a great engineer, so i am very calm about this next phase. i'm in good hands. actually, i'm ALWAYS in good hands. it's just a lack of clarity, which sometimes makes it seem otherwise.

so that's the update.

i am also simultaneously working on the album graphics and positioning of text. i haven't decided whether to splurge and get the more eco-friendly cardboard cd wallets, or the more standard plastic. i know in my gut which i would feel better about, but my mom made this point about how the cardboard ones are hard to find when you are sifting through cds at a store. i don't know how many stores will be stacking my cds yet, but that's certainly something to take into consideration.

as always, love to hear your thoughts.

much good will,
porteR

cardboard (or digipak).

1) better for the environment
2) don't BREAK as easily
3) you can fit more in a box/suitcase
4) weigh less = cheaper shipping

need I go on!?!?

can't wait to hear it Porter!!
